MY 6 YR. OLD ROTTIE, CHANCE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH OSTEOSARCOMA JUNE 1, 2012. SINCE SHE WAS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR AMP SURGERY WE WHERE BLESSED TO FIND A CLINICAL TRIAL GOING ON AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS “FIGHT AGAINST OSTEOSARCOMA” CHANCE WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE TRIAL JUNE 12 AND HER FIRST TREATMENT WAS RADIATION PLUS AN INFUSION OF THE DRUG “ZOMETA” CHANCE COULD HARDLEY WALK INTO THE HOSPITAL ON JUNE 12 AND TODAY SHE SPENDS MOST OF HER DAYS AT HER FAVORITE DOG PARK, TODAY SHE HAS NO LIMP AND VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF PAIN, DECEMBER 1 WILL BE 7 MONTHS OF HER DIAGNOSIS AND
HER NEXT APPOINTMENT WILL BE CHEST EXRAYS TO MAKE SURE THE CANCER DID NOT SPREAD…..I AM RWACHING OUT TO ANYONE WHO HAS JUST GOTTEN THIS GOD AWEFUL DIAGNOSIS, THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS IS LOOKING FOR MORE DOGS FOR THE TRIAL, THEY HAVE 50 AND ARE LOOKING TO GET TO 60….. PLEASE KNOW THIS TRIAL DOES NOT CAUSE ANY DISCOMFORT TO THE DOGS THEY ARE SEDATED SO THEY ARE STILL WHEN THEY ARE RECIEVING THE INFUSION, THE ONLY PROBLEM CHANCE HAS HAD WAS ALITTLE UPSET STOMACH THAT DAY AND SHE HAS LOST HER FUR WHERE THE RADIATION WAS GIVEN I WOULD NEVER ALLOW ANY PAIN INFLICTED ON HER AS SHE IS MY BEST FRIEND….SHE IS HAPPY, BACK TO HER OLD SELF AND WE ARE HOPING THIS IS GOING TO BE THE NEW TREATMENT FOR OSTEOSARCOMA, NO AMPUTATION, JUST RADIATION AND THE MIRACLE DRUG ZOMETA ONCE A MONTH, IF YOU NEED ANY INFO ON THIS TRIAL PLEASE CONTACT ME.
